The Mall Poster

The Mall was the original prototype series of 6teen. It was originally conceived in 2003 and was renamed 6teen in 2004. The show had a different art style and the main characters' designs were different.

There was a blog post on Fresh TV's long-lost blog that showed the early poster of the show, as well as a fax call of the theme song's tune.

2003 Fresh Animation overview

Welcome to The Mall, an animated situational comedy set ENTIRELY in a gigantic shopping mall! “The Mall” follows our ensemble cast of six sixteen-year-old friends as they try to make it through their first part-time jobs and life as a teen.

Don’t expect to see any teachers or parents in this aspirational show for tweens. “The Mall” is about the important stuff – firsts. First crushes, first jobs, first lines of credit and that first taste of freedom… of course, not every new experience is a positive one. Hate your job? Try trading places with Nikki, a determinedly individual girl who (in what she considers a sick twist of fate) is stuck working at The Khaki Barn with “The Clones”, Kristen, Kirsten and Chrissy. Think you’ve had a bad first date? Jen is desperately trying to become the worst date in history in an attempt to scare off her boss’s moronic son without getting fired. Jonesy manages to get his butt fired from a new store in every single episode, and Caitlin somehow endures the daily humiliation of working in the lowest store in the mall’s hierarchy of cool – The Big Squeeze (a giant hydraulic lemon). No “most embarrassing moment” in these teens’ lives will be left unturned… but through it all, our group of six best friends learn to lean on one another.

From working through their relationships to dealing with hideous uniforms, the larger-than-life mall provides our characters with the perfect venue to test their wings – and totally crash and burn trying. Sharp writing and tons of laughs make this show the stand-out hit of the season. Tune in to “The Mall” for minimum wages, maximum laughs!
