Jen, Courtney and Penalty Box application[]
In this episode, Coach Halder says that Jen's application form doesn't mention any sisters (when Nikki is pretending to be Jen's Sister).
Later on in the series, we learn that Jen does actually does have a sister, Courtney.
I'm assuming this was omitted because the show was still a work in progress and the necessity for Jen to have a sister did not exist at this time.
But if we occlude that, could it be that Jen is minimalizing Courtney and choosing to ignore her existence, even to the point of not mentioning her to anyone?
This could be a defense mechanism on Jen's part, since Courtney has a habit of stealing both boyfriends and friends from Jen. Therefore, Jen would not create any opportunities for Courtney to be involved in her life. Buckmana 06:06, November 26, 2011 (UTC)
Coach Halder and the penny drop[]
This is an idea that occurred to me.
I haven't seen every episode of 6teen yet, so I'm uncertain if Jen has ever mentioned what happened to her father.
In The Wedding Destroyers she says "her father cannot be here" in a tone of voice that implies he's deceased.
What if Coach Halder knew this information?
He probably got the information from her employee application (which oddly, fails to mention Courtney Masterson).
Although why Jen should have to list her family members besides next-of-kin (in case of a workplace accident) is unknown.
Because the moment Jonesy rings Coach Halder and pretends to be Jen's father, the ruse ends at that point, with Coach Halder becoming immediately suspicious.
If he knew Jen didn't have a father, this would be why he guessed Jen was bailing on work. Buckmana (talk) 06:13, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
